After launch of their high-end models, in form of Radeon 58XX series, we expected that ATI would release products that would fill mid and low range lineup as they did with previous generation. Except slightly “crippled” 5870 in form of 5850, we had chance to test two graphics cards from mid range: 5770 and 5750. Good news is that all 57XX graphics cards also support DX11 with Shader model 5, hardware tessellation and ATI Eyefinity technologies.

Microsoft has released a new firmware update for Zune HD. The v4.3 update is available now by selecting Player Update from within the device itself. The 4.3 patch sets the groundwork for upcoming 3D games and apps while also improving the web experience. BlackBerry passes iPhone, again
IDC published new figures about smartphone market, and appears that RIM BlackBerry has once again surpassed Apple for smartphone market share. Prior to that Apple with iPhone 3GS looked like a clear winner for the second place on the smartphone market, but with impressive 30 percent increase for the quarter and climbing to 19 percent, RIM is again above Apple's 17.1 percent.

Moblin 2.1 is out
The Intel-founded Moblin project has seen to the release of version 2.1 of the Linux-based Moblin operating system - software geared for netbook computers. Version 2.1 brings browser enhancements with plug-in supports, and 3G data updates. The Moblin Application Installer is now integrated, providing a list of applications from the Moblin Garage that users can choose to install.

New 1.8-inch HDD from Toshiba
They are not so exciting as SSD counterpart, but HDDs are still much cheaper, and Toshiba announcement of two new 1.8inch drives means that HDD makers are not sleeping while SSDs trying to jump in the wagon. New drives are 1.8 inch, SATA2 compatible and targeted for netbooks, tablet PCs and portable media players. Faster one is a 5,400RPM drive available in 160GB, 240GB and 320GB versions and the second is a 120GB 4,200RPM model, but both promise to use less power than any of their competitors topping at to 1.3W while seeking/writing.

Klipsch rolls out wireless speakers
As usual, wireless means that no wire connection between PC and speakers is needed, but there is still need to connect subwoofer (integrated amplifier) and speakers with wires. For those with better memory ProMedia 2.1 will sound familiar, as one of first really good 2.1 THX-certified systems around, and was introduced back in 2000.
