AMD heading to 28nm process for GPUs in 2010?

With AMD still suffering somewhat at the hands of 40 nanometre yield issues with their current crop of GPUs, you could be forgiven for thinking that they might shy away from aggressive process shrinks in the future.آ However, according to speculation over at Driver Heaven this won't be the case, with the suggestion that the company will be shifting its GPU production to Global Foundries and seeking to make use of a 28 nanometre manufacturing process by the end of 2010.

We spoke with an industry insider today who told us that in late 2010 ATI appear to be heading to the 28nm process. It also appears that this chip will be a co developed product by both Globalfoundries & TSMC. Globalfoundries are set to have the 28nm process in bulk shipping mode around October 2010 and obviously due to their connections ATI will be the first to get them.

You can find the original story here.
