Windows 7 OEM Pricing Unveiled by Newegg
Newegg on Tuesday posted pricing for OEMs versions of Microsoft's much-hyped upcoming Windows 7 operating systems. The pricing shows around a 50% difference between retail and OEM pricing for full (not upgrade) versions, bringing the full software below the price of an upgrade version. This is OEM software, however, so there are a bunch of caveats. First, it's supposed to be sold for pre-installation on a new personal computer for resale. The system builder is supposed to provide tech support. That means, if

Here it is, in the latter half of 2009, and Americans are still waiting on what has become the Garmin-Asus nأ¼vifone G60. After an incredibly

That's correct, in case you're wondering. There is no support for 64-bit Windows XP, at least for now.

Microsoft's reasoning behind the free security software is, according to the company, to be sure that users in emerging markets are protected, as many of those users can't afford to buy antivirus software. As you probably know (and as Apple loves to trumpet), malware writers focus their efforts on Windows (understandably, considering its dominance).

On the other hand, the product Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) replaces, OneCare Live, certainly did not duplicate the dominance of the OS. It never really gathered much market share, and also was a poor performance, at least at first, with poor results in third-party AV tests such the VB100.

Symantec and McAfee, the big guns among security software, have not expressed much concern over MSE, but realistically, the word "free" combined with the word "Microsoft" is bound to attract users. There are a number of free AV products on the market, such as Avast, AVG, Comodo, and others, but they don't have that huge "Microsoft" logo and the trust (??) associated with it.

Microsoft has maintained the "simplistic" attitude in terms of alerting the end user of problems. As Microsoft says, "when you’re green, you’re good," just as with OneCare Live.

The question is, will this reduce the number of botnets and infections in emerging markets? Additionally, will consumers in places like the U.S. and Europe grab onto it? Readers, will you try it?

Are Cell Phones Safe? New Website & Research Provides The Answer
We've heard facts that claim cell phones are perfectly safeand other pieces of information that say cell phones are dangerous. Now, a new website from ProCon.org is available to help you decide for yourself.

Even though the radio frequency (RF) radiation levels in cell phones areregulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and generallyconsidered to be safe when used properly, there is still plenty of researchthat shows cell phone use could cause cancer, disrupt pacemakers, decreasefertility, damage DNA, and increase the risk of traffic accidents.

The FCC and other government agencies claim the majority ofscientific studies show there are no adverse health effects from cell phoneuse. That's not to say there aren't other studies that point out the dangers ofcell phones, particularly those that occur while using a cell phone and drivingat the same time.

With its http://cellphones.procon.org/website, ProdCon.org hopes to provide information to readers to help them thinkcritically, educate themselves, and make informed decisions regarding cellphone use.

A few interesting tidbits from the site:
  1. Cordless home phones, television, radio, laptops, andpalm held computers all produce radiofrequency (RF) radiation, the same type ofradiation that is produced by cell phones.
  2. The radiation emitted by a cell phone can penetrate 4 - 6 cm(1.6 - 2.4 in) into the human brain. The amount of RF absorbed into the headcan be reduced by using a wired ear-piece (not a Bluetooth unit) rather than placingthe phone against the ear.
  3. A 2002 report by the National Highway Traffic SafetyAdministration (released in 2009 under a Freedom of Information Actrequest) concluded that using a hands free device (Bluetooth, headset, etc.) does not reduce distraction or make cell phone use safer whiledriving. As of Sep. 2009, six states had passed laws requiring the use ofa hands free device while driving.
  4. On July 24, 2008, a warning was issued by theDirector of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute to faculty andstaff to decrease cell phone exposure due to a possible connection between cellphone radiation and brain tumors. The warning prompted a congressional hearingon cell phone use and tumors.

Unfortunately, cards did not arrive in time to be tested alongside the 5870. The Radeon HD 5850 did arrive in the lab a few days later, however, and we jumped right on the testing. Google To Release Google Wave To Beta Testers On Wednesday
Googleplans to begin testing a new product called Google Wave tomorrow. This new Webapplication combines elements of email, chat, Wiki documents, blogs, andphoto-sharing sites in order to create a hosted conversation or "wave"of Internet communication.

Google first demonstrated Wave at the Google I/O developerconference in San Francisco, California, in May. The product will initially be availableto approximately 100,000 beta testers. This closed group will help the company findany bugs in the application before it is released to the public later this year.

The application was created by brothers Jens and LarsRasmussen, the same pair who developed Google Maps. The Rasmussen brothers hopeGoogle Wave will eventually replace email as the main form of communicationvia the Internet.

Using Wave, email-like communications can be edited byseveral users simultaneously. Users can also chat about specific sections ofWave documents in real time. Should a person join the conversation after it hasstarted, they can replay everything they've missed.

The product has been cheered by many tech bloggers. However, there are some concerns that the application may be too complicated for theaverage or mainstream Web user.

The Rasmussens describe the product in much greater detailin an hour and 20 minute video, available at http://wave.google.com/.

VTech's New Landline Phone Downloads Mobile Contacts And Talking
Verizon's chief has already declared the landline "dead," but if you're still hanging onto your landline phone while the grave is being dug, you just might be interested in this. VTech is taking landline phones where they've never gone before, with its DS6321-3 being the first cordless phone system capable of downloading cellular phonebook directory entries using Bluetooth technology.

Furthermore, users can connect up to four Bluetooth devices (two of which can be mobile phones) to the phone, enabling them to actually have mobile calls with the landline handset. In other words, you can have your cellphone charging in your bedroom, and if someone calls it, you can answer the call via your landline handset. Wild, no?

If you're already in the market for a new home phone, this one's probably apt to get more use than any other--particularly if you also use your mobile at home. It's available now direct from VTech for $99.95, though it'll hit Best Buy stores next month.

"At just $100, the DS6321-3 is an affordable communication solutionfor any household or small office, especially for 'cord cutters' thatrely on cellular service," said Matt Ramage, senior vice president, product management, VTech Communications, Inc. "By converging Bluetooth technology with the benefits of a landline phone, this system helpsusers avoid typical cellular problems, such as battery life issues, poor audio quality or dropped calls."

Withthree handsets included and optional expandability up to 12 handsetsrequiring only one phone jack (using the DS6301 accessory handset, soldseparately), the sleek DS6321-3 makes it easy to answer cellular orlandline calls from any room. As long as the cell phone is left withinBluetooth range (typically 30 feet) of the base station, users canenjoy clear, comfortable cell phone calls using the handset - up to1,500 feet away. Users without a landline can still take advantage ofthe DS6321-3, since all cellular calls made or received on the DS6321-3use mobile plan minutes.

Forhands-free landline conversations, users can make and receivetraditional landline calls on the DS6321-3 while using a Bluetooth headset, or take advantage of the handset speakerphones.

Part 10: How to hack iPod to play games and music video?

Part 1: How to convert YouTube video to iPod for free.
There must be some wonderful videos you’ve ever watched on YouTube and want to put them on your iPod. But iPod can play only MP4 video, and YouTube video is FLV, you have to download and convert YouTube video to MP4 video at first, then you can add it into your iTunes library and sync to your iPod.
There are many online video converters can help you do that job for free, we take vixy.net for example this time.
Step1. Open this website: http://vixy.net . Then go to YouTube and find a video that you love. Copy the video URL that in the Red box. Like this format: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdUUx5FdySs

Step2. Paste your video file URL to the input box, select “MP4 for iPod/PSPâ€‌ as the output format, then wait for the conversion, this flv converter can also help you rip YouTube video to MP3 audio.

Step3. When the conversion finished, we got the download link of the output video. Click it to download the video and save in your computer, then open iTunes and drag the video into your iTunes library, sync your iPod, done.

Part 2: How to copy music and photos from my iPod to computer?
Sometime we lost iTunes library or want to copy files from other iPod back to computer, because iTunes prevents user do that, you need special software to bypass iTunes. I’d recommend Tansee iPod Copy Pack to you, It is a life saver when
- Sending your iPod for repair.
- Backup song/video/photo to PC.
- Moving song/video/photo to a new iPod.
- Share your iPod song/video/photo with friends.
- Computer crashed.

If Tansee doesn’t help, you can try this iPod Computer Transfer, it fully supports all series of iPod and iPhone, and it’s also a nice iTunes alternative which can help you create playlist and sync music and video to iPod.

Part 3: How to rip DVD movie and convert video to iPod (Windows User)
iPod can only play MP4 and H.264 video, but DVD movie is MPEG-2 video and CSS protected, you need an application to rip DVD and convert video to MP4 video, and then sync it to iPod via iTunes. I strongly recommend Aimersoft iPod Converter Suite; it can rip protected DVD and convert limewire, YouTube video, AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, FLV, XviD video to iPod. And from my tests, it fully supports all series of iPod including iPod Touch/Nano/Classic/Video.
1. Download and install Aimersoft iPod Converter Suite, run the DVD to iPod Converter, click "Load DVD" to browse your computer and load the DVD files.

2. Click the “Formatâ€‌ combo-box to select one according to your iPod name, and then select the subtitle, audio you prefer and start the conversion.

3. Open iTunes and click "File" to add your converted videos, plug in your iPod to computer, then iTunes will detect your iPod as a device. Select your iPod device on the left panel of iTunes, click "Movies" tab, check the videos you want to sync and click "Apply", done.

Troubleshooting (Windows)
1. Why occurs a message: 'MPEG2Dec: Error during decoder initialization' or 'unable to read from E:\VIDEO_TS\vts_01_1.vob' every time I put any DVD in?
First, check that you select the correct DVD driver. If not, please select the correct DVD driver path.
Second, quite a few users encountered this error and have solved by using PQ DVD to iPod Video Converter or dvdXsoft DVD to iPod Ripper, Xilisoft DVD to iPod Converter. Please download to try out.

2. Why your iTunes converted video has no sound
Because iTunes cannot convert muxed video (the audio and video of a muxed video file are on the same track), muxed video converted by iTunes will lose sound. You can learn more about this issue from apple’s official document
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302588
If you come across this problem, you can refer to Part 3, the iPod converter that I recommend can deal with muxed video with no problem.

3. Still doesn't Work
If DVD/Video to iPod conversion doesn't work, please post your problems here and I will solve ASAP. I am glad to help.
iPod official support page: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/
iTunes official support page: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/

Part 4: How to rip DVD movie and convert video to iPod (Mac)
As for Mac user, I’d recommend iSkysoft iPod Converter Suite for Mac to you, the operation steps are similar to Aimersoft, so I am not repeat here. It has two versions for both Intel Mac and Power PC Mac. You can free download it for a try. For more info about it, Here is a detailed page about it.

If you have a Windows computer and want to " target="_blank" title="http://www.mac-dvd.com/mac-guide/how-to-share-files-between-windows-and-mac.html">copy files from Windows to Mac, here is a step by step guide for you.
http://www.mac-dvd.com/mac-guide/how-to-share-files-between-windows-and-mac.html

Part 5. How can I watch my iPod movie on large screen TV?
Set up your iPod video options. On your iPod choose Videos -> Video Settings from the main menu. You will see three options: TV Out, TV Signal and Widescreen. Select the “TV Outâ€‌ option.

Get your A/V cable. If you don't have an eighth-inch-to-RCA cable, you can pick one up on eBay for five or six bucks shipped. Search for "camcorder A/V cable." Remember, you want a three-plug yellow/red/white RCA connection at one end and a three-banded eighth-inch (3.5mm) A/V plug at the other.
1. Plug the red RCA plug into your TV's yellow RCA jack.
2. Plug the yellow RCA plug into your TV's white RCA jack.
3. Plug the white RCA plug into your TV's red RCA jack.
After making these connections, you're physically ready to begin playback.

Part6. How to manager two iPods on one computer or transfer music between iPods?
Actually, you can manage more than one iPod on the same computer.
Method1. Create multi accounts on one computer, one account for each person to login OS and sync his/her iPod with iTunes.
Method2. Set your iPod to “Manually manage music and videoâ€‌, and then create a new iTunes playlist for each iPod that contains all the music that you want to send to that particular iPod.
As for transferring music between different iPods, you need a special application to do that, I have tried a program named iPod2iPod, it can successfully transfer my friend’s iPod music to my iPod, and here is a guide about it:
http://www.top5soft.com/tutorial/how-to-transfer-music-between-iPods.html

Part7. Where can I found some cool themes for my iPhone or iPod Touch?
If you sick of your iPod or iPhone default theme and want to customize it, you can find some free cool themes from
http://www.iphone-tool.com/free-iphone-theme.html
And it has a detailed guide to teach you how to put the themes on your iPod, it’s easy to understand, I’m sure you can handle it.

Part8. Where to download music and movie for iPod Touch/Nano/Classic/Video
1. iTunes store: $0.99 for one song, $9.99 for one movie, $1.99 for one TV show.
2. Limewire is fast and popular file sharing freeware working on Windows, Linux and Mac OS. Through the P2P (peer-to-peer) network, you can free download various files by its category or keyword searching. Here is a step by step guide will teach you how to use limewire to download video to iPod.
3. Other stream video website such as Yahoo, MySpace, etc. here is a list of free stream video website. And you can refer to the part 1 of this guide to download stream video to iPod.

Part9. How to install applications on iPod Touch and iPhone for free?
Before Apple released the iPhone SDK, you have to jailbreak your iPod Touch or iPhone to install free software or play funny game. And here is a step by step guide will teach you how to do that
http://www.dvd-to-iphone.biz/guide/how-to-install-application-on-iphone-ipod-touch.html

Part10. How to hack iPod to play games and music video
This part is mainly for the old version iPod, coz the new series of iPods can directly play video and game and you don’t need to hack them. If you want to hack your iPod to play Doom 3, you have to install iPod Linux on your iPod, here is iPod Linux official installation guide
http://ipodlinux.org/Installation_from_Windows
Or you can take a look at this guide, which I think is more intuitional:
http://www.youtubetoipod.biz/guide/ipod-linux-on-ipod-nano-play-music-video.html
Note: It can be pretty complicated to install iPod Linux on iPod, so give it a serious consideration before you do that.

Test if Your ISP is Throttling BitTorrent

Potential throttling of BitTorrent traffic by major ISPs, such as Comcast and AT&T, means that your Internet access could be affected. It's not just the downloading of illegal movies and applications that utilizes BitTorrent traffic; there is plenty of legitimate BitTorrent traffic out there as well, such as Valve's Steam game distribution platform. Some legitimate Steam users have reported interference from ISPs.

While the government investigates and contemplates enacting net neutrally legislation, what is a broadband user to do? Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems have created a couple of tools for detecting if an ISP is manipulating BitTorrent traffic. They call their project: "Glasnost: Bringing Transparency to the Internet."

"ISPs are increasingly deploying a variety of middleboxes (e.g., firewalls, traffic shapers, censors, and redirectors) to monitor and to manipulate the performance of user applications. Most ISPs do not reveal the details of their network deployments to their customers. We believe that this knowledge is important to help users make a more informed choice of their ISP. Further, such knowledge is also useful for researchers designing protocols and systems that run on top of these networks."

The Glasnost page currently hosts two tools: One tests to see if your ISP blocks or limits BitTorrent traffic; and the second tool measures characteristics of your broadband connections, such as router queueing delays. The researchers promise more relevant tools in the near future. At the time of this new post, the BitTorrent traffic manipulation test tool was consistently providing the message, "We are sorry. Our measurement servers are currently busy. Please try again later." Therefore we were unable to test its effectiveness.

REALLY Slow Internet

I'm at my friends how on his Dell Inspiron 530S and his internet is slow it's not even funny. What's even worse is that he's got Comcast, and in our area they are REALLY fast. I know for a fact that his problem isn't helped by only one gigabyte of RAM for Vista and a 1.6Ghz Intel e2140 but his internet is so slow it's amazing to me. His parents have a parental control deal going on with his computer (I'm working on getting a ghost key logger for him so he can get the password, lemme know if ya'll got any good recommendations) that's so strict to run updates for Xfire and infact to install software he needs thier permission. Before they modified the level of parental control, my friend put "super" into a Google search and the results were blocked... Anyway, any ideas as to why his internet is so slow?

All Flavors Of Windows 7 Cleared For Install On Netbooks
We can all breathe a huge sigh of relief, as those pesky hardware limits that have kept Windows XP-based netbooks down for so long won't apply when Windows 7 hits the scene. If you've manage to keep up with the steady stream of XP-based netbook releases, you'll notice that most of them have an Atom N270 or N280 CPU, 1GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive and no optical drive. Despite times changing and designs morphing, the actual hardware within has remained essentially the same.

Now, it sure sounds like those limits are being removed. Microsoft has reportedly confirmed that PC makers will be able to install any version of Win7 they want on netbooks, and we suspect that Win7 Ultimate machines will need more potent hardware to really keep up. Furthermore, the "3-app limit" on Windows 7 Starter has been removed, ensuring that all versions of Win7 will at least have full (but basic) OS capabilities.

"OEMs and ODMs have the choice to install any version of Windows on a netbook," said a Microsoft UK spokesperson. "[But] Starter is an entry version and doesn’t have many of the consumer or business features. The three application limit isn’t there anymore."
The spokesperson didn't specifically say that hardware changes would be more likely now, but all signs are pointing to that. Now, if only Intel would pop out a revamped Atom, we'd be pleased as punch.

How to LEGALLY get unlimited free songs

ok, I found this way to get unlimited free songs LEGALLY! Some of you may already know this way, but this is just to inform the people who are short on money and don't know this.Stick out tongue Anyways, here are the steps that I used:

1. Go to real.com and download the latest version of real player. It should be called real player SP now.

2. When you download it, make sure that the “download manager” is enabled. It is enabled by default so just leave it checked during the installation process.

3. Go to any site that lets you listen to a FULL song for free. There is a catch though. The songs have to be "used submitted" so they don't have a pesky DRM. There are many websites out there like that, but I use playlist.com, so I'll use that as an example.

4. When you are on playlist, make a profile. It only takes 2 mins and it's free. Plus it allows you to keep track of all the songs that you download. After you have done that, search for the song that you want and add it to your playlist. Now, go to your profile and play the newly added song.

5. When you play it, there should be a window that pops up that says “download this clip.” Click it.

6. The Real Player Manager will pop up and will instantly start downloading the song directly off of the site. Once it’s done, you can clear and close it.

7. Open Real Player. Go to my library. Click Downloads and Recordings on the left hand side.

8. You should see the song there. Now, if you want to move the file to a different location, simply right click the song and click “move files…” and select where you want the songs. The easiest thing to do is to create a new folder right on the desktop and store all of your music there for easy access.

Note: This also works with YouTube videos and pretty much any other video or music off of any site as long as it doesn't have a DRM protection on it. The only thing about getting videos this way, is that the videos are the SAME SIZE AS IT APPEARS ON THE WESITE ITSELF and they are in AVI format which is hardly compatible with anything so you need to find a converter if you want it in a different format or if you want it in a better quality.

I hope this helps you guys out. The steps are pretty straight foreward, but go ahead and just message me if you have any trouble. Enjoy.Big Smile

It is done with subliminal messages. Can anyone bring in any truth on this? I have a feeling it is a hoax, but it seems like it could be possible. Maybe not to the extream of death.

Post your knowledge.
