Windows 10's Privacy Policy Is The New Normal
Isn't it funny how companies want to know everything about you but couldn't care less about you? Microsoft gets a lot of data out of Windows 10, and it's really no surprise in a world where big data means big bucks. Sure, data collection is inescapable in the current climate of assistants and other personalized applications, but it's scary to think about where everything is going and how your data is being used.

It's probably fair to say that Windows 10 goes further in this kind of thing than previous operating systems. But it does so not as an outlier or some major break from past behaviors, but as a next step in a continuous process of making operating systems more connected, and to make data collection and analysis more extensive.

Ten Jobs That Automation Won't Kill Off
Robots are bad news. If they can't kill you, they'll take your job instead. This writer seems to think that people like CEOs and marketing managers will be immune. That actually makes a lot of sense, since most of them seem to be emotionless, cutthroat robots anyway. In any case, I'm sure Tech-Com will be hiring.

There's not much room at the top, especially for automation. I've met a CEO or two with a robotic personality, but machines are unlikely to possess the leadership, interpersonal skills, and intuition that characterize the head of a successful company. These future leaders will, however, have a cadre of machines that provide rapid insights into the health of the companies they command.

New Aircraft Seats Will Make Flights Slightly More Bearable
Flying is a terrible experience for many, and one of the biggest reasons is that there's not enough leg room. B/E Aerospace has patented a new type of adjustable aircraft seat that should improve the comfort of both taller and shorter passengers. Now someone just needs to fix the dry air, dry food, and dry entertainment.

The innovative system places seats on the same grooves as standard aircraft seat tracks, but standard seat fasteners are mounted on gears which would let airlines adjust the seats forward or back as needed. Other adjustable seating seat proposals exist, but all depend on the installation of special seat tracks which would complicate adoption, installation, and maintenance, and that's a factor working in favour of this a-bit-further-out concept.

The EPA Accidentally Turned This River Toxic And Orange
The EPA normally responds to disasters, but this week, they did the complete opposite and accidentally let out a million gallons of contaminated mine water into the Animas River near Durango, Colorado. Considering the fact that contamination is persistent and rivers don't respect borders, the EPA has a huge problem on their hands.

The EPA also revealed their test results---the mine water contains high levels of lead, arsenic, cadmium, and aluminum. The bright orange color comes from sediment. The EPA said the local sheriff's decision to close the river to kayakers and tubers was appropriate given their numbers, though the agency didn't give specifics. The city of Durango has also stopped pumping water from the Animas River into its reservoir.

Fantastic Four Director Kills His Own Film On Twitter
The reception of the new Fantastic Four film has been nothing short of an utter disaster. It became a sinking ship as early as its premiere two days ago, largely in part to director Josh Trank, who essentially trashed his own film on Twitter and set off a firestorm of criticism and conspiracy theories between him and Fox. Despite contradictive reports of who is to blame, one thing we can be certain of is that things went terribly on set.

There's a reason Trank's tweet has caused such an uproar and raised so many questions. Until now, everyone involved in Fantastic Four has been so busy denying there was any disruption or chaos on set or between the filmmaking team that Trank's burst of truth and despair is difficult to interpret – even by those who have been trying to follow the developments on the film closely. Is this merely more evidence of the erratic behavior those who worked on the movie have discussed anonymously in the press?
