
AMD releases Catalyst 10.5
AMD has issued a new WHQL version of its Catalyst driver, the Catalyst 10.5. The new one supports Radeon HD 2000, 3000, 4000 and HD 5000 series, both desktop and Mobility graphics cards, as well as the support for Radeon 3000 and 4000 series IGPs. The new features for the Catalyst 10.5 include support for 120Hz displays on the Radeon HD 3000 and HD 400 series graphics cards and ATI Overdrive full support for overclocking the multi-display configurations. However, there hasn't been any noted significant performance improvements.

Acer displays 7-inch Android tablet, e-readers and 720p phone
Acer used a broad product launch today to reveal a surprise entry into the tablet arena. CEO Gianfranco Lanci briefly demonstrated a 7-inch tablet running Android and with a hardware keyboard underneath. He didn't provide any other details of the device in question but said it would ship in the fall and hinted that it would have 3G and sell through carriers with a subsidized price. The design spotted by Shufflegazine marks Acer's official entry into tablets and one of the first Taiwanese companies to directly show its competition against the iPad. ASUS has teased its Eee Pad for a summer launch but has yet to confirm any details. It and MSI are set to show their first real tablet entries at Computex on June 1st, but direct competition to the iPad may be shunted to the side following pressure from Intel and Microsoft to show Atom-based Windows tablets.

MeeGo releases new OS for netbooks
MeeGo has released the first stable version of its self-titled operating system for netbooks. The release works as a stable core foundation that developers can use to begin creating MeeGo applications. The interface presents a variety of information directly on the home screen, such as calendars, tasks, recent files, and real-time social networking updates.
