Adobe Reader is the software most often exploited in targeted attacks it seems as Helsinki-based F-Secure urged users to update to the newest version of Reader to protect themselves against new attacks taking advantage of a vulnerability patched just three weeks ago. F-Secure claimed that 61 per cent of the nearly 900 targeted attacks it's tracked in the first two months of 2010 exploited a vulnerability in Reader.

Unreal Engine 3 demo running on Palm webOS
Palm is currently demonstrating Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 running on a Palm Pre Plus at the Game Developers Conference this week. The company managed to get the engine working on webOS just two weeks after receiving a test version of the Unreal Development Kit, according to CNET. The technology is currently used in PC and console games such as Gears of War 2 and Unreal Tournament III.

Nokia hopes multitasking will set Symbian^3 apart

Khronos releases OpenGL 4.0 specs, Nvidia already claims support
Khronos Group took the stage at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco to announce the 4.0 version of OpenGL, Microsoft's DirectX 11 rival API. Defined by the OpenGL Architecture Review Board working group, OpenGL 4.0 includes better interoperability with OpenCL (open-source GPGPU framework) as well as the new GLSL (OpenGL Shading Language) 4.00 which provides developers with more options to tap into GPU power, the goal being to deliver enhanced graphics quality, acceleration performance and programming flexibility.

Today Intel has dropped the NDA for its first consumer 6-core processor and thus opened the flood gates for Core i7-980X Extreme Edition reviews. Priced at $999, the new chip (codename Gulftown) is a 32nm hexa-core part clocked at 3.33 GHz (3.60 GHz in Turbo mode) with 12 threads, 12MB of L3 cache, and a TDP of 130W. Being an uber-end CPU, the i7-980X EE targets the LGA 1366 platform and will work on current X58 motherboard after a BIOS update.
